Grassroots Empowerment through Education

Our Story

The Trainors Collective, Inc. was formed in 1991 by a group of trainors and development workers in commitment to and in pursuit of an alternative education and training agenda towards transformational initiatives.    TCI has provided relevant non-formal education while focusing its assistance to grassroots community-based organizations.

In pursuit of its vision, The Grassroots Trainors Training Program was conceptualized to provide marginalized sectors with local and indigenous community trainors.  This comprehensive training program   has been implemented to six sectors (urban poor, workers, fisherfolks, women, indigenous people and peasants) with each program lasting 6-14 months.  A Community-based Capability Building Program was concluded in the municipalities of Atok and Bugias, Benguet. For 2003, the Membership, Organizational and Leadership Development through Trainors Development  (MOLD-TRADE) in Western Batangas concluded with its intensive program  for farmer cooperatives.

Since its formation, TCI  has conducted more than 100 training programs, six comprehensive trainors training programs, four community-based building programs and almost 20 technical assistance and consultancy services.  It has worked with various groups and sectors from all over the country including Benguet, Baguio, La Union, Zambales, Bulacan, Tarlac, Bicol, Cebu, Tacloban,  Bohol, Cagayan de Oro, Davao.   It has developed and implemented capability-building training programs for various sectors, communities and groups.

A very dynamic, and diverse pool of trainors and consultants remains to be TCI’s asset.  These trainors, facilitators, seminar and workshop administrators and documenters   specialize in different fields and aspects of development work to include not only Human Resource development but also in the areas of community/ organizational development, gender, family support service, agriculture, peace, health, environment, culture and the arts, electoral processes, sales and marketing, leadership and management instructional technology, business planning and development, building partnerships and networking, among others. 

Now, on  its 15th year, the Trainors Collective, Inc. ventures to expand its service to more sectors, communities and groups, especially in Visayas and Mindanao,  working together towards the formation and development of an   empowered, skilled, active, virtuous and productive human being.
